Looks like the ELL has got rid of the Reserves Division and merged it into the 2nd Division.

14 in each Division which is much fuller than last year - lets hope the rain stays away so we can get it wrapped up before June this time!

DIVISION 1

BARNOLDSWICK TOWN - Is this their Reserves as their 3rds remain in Div 2? Res were previously in Lancs League so presumably they have migrated from there
BARROWFORD CELTIC
BURNLEY BELVEDERE - Champions - However they moved to the Lancs Amateur League Div 1 - a lower level - so is this the 1st team or are their Reserves playing at a higher level?
BURNLEY UNITED
FENISCOWLES & PLEASINGTON
LANGHO
LONGSHAW - Promoted from Div 1
MILL HILL
OSWALDTWISTLE ST MARY'S
PRAIRIE UNITED - Finished bottom, reprieved from relegation, presumably
READ UNITED
RIMINGTON
WADDINGTON - Promoted from Div 1
WHINNEY HILL

Division 2

BARNOLDSWICK TOWN (3rds) - Just missed out on promotion
BURNLEY UNITED RESERVES - Incoming - not sure where they played last season, if at all?
COLNE UNITED
GRINDLETON FC
HAPTON FC
LANGHO RESERVES - Moved from Reserves Div
OSWALDTWISTLE ST MARYS RESERVES - Moved from Reserves Div
PEEL PARK - Finished bottom last season
POLONIA - Incomng - not sure who they are or where/if they played last season
READ UNITED RESERVES - Moved from Reserves Div
RIMINGTON RESERVES - Moved from Reserves Div
RISHTON
STACKSTEADS ST JOSEPH'S
WADDINGTON RESERVES - Moved from Reserves Div

MISSING

Water FC - they played in the final league game on 9th June, so not sure where they are now, if anywhere?
Huncoat United - not sure where they are now, if anywhere?
Whinney Hill Reserves - presume Whinney Hill have folded the reserves?
Grindleton Reserves - their 1st team is in Div 2 so presumably they weren't allowed to field their reserves too, so wonder if they have folded or gone elsewhere?

So after chatting to Burnley Belvedere today, they tell me that they have moved their 1st Team to Lancs Amateur League Div 1 as they weren't allowed to move straight to the Premier Div.

The Reserves have moved from Craven League Div 3 and so will be the team playing East Lancs Div 1.

I doubt that the ELL will advertise the fact it is the reserves, which will then just confuse everyone who doesn't follow every tiny detail of the clubs.

I'm surprised the Lancashire FA haven't anything to say on it as it would surely cause some confusion for Lancashire Cup draws as they have different competitions depending on the notional step, so will be interesting to see if they state which team is which and put them in the right cup, or if the right team gets the right draw etc

The only comparable situation I noticed in the North West last season was Govan Athletic Reserves playing in Manchester League Div 5 when their 3rd team Govan Athletic A played at technically a higher level Altrincham League Div 2.

I do realise in both cases that the quality of the teams in the league means that for that reason it was probably right for the clubs, but it just highlights that the notional pyramid in the North West is a bit messed up, and it would be good to see an official placing of levels for each division of each league agreed by the County FAs.

After Saturday's Lancashire Cup tie Millom v Longshaw, rumour has it that Longshaw have disbanded.

There is a tweet from Millom that says that the ref abandoned the game on 30 mins after Longshaw had a number of players sent off

"First team have there game abandoned after 30 minutes after a joke of a outfit @FcLongshaw get a number of players sent off. Winning 2-0 at the time..."

"Ref had to lock himself in the changingrooms, disgrace"

Speaking to someone in the know, it seems that they have been struggling with a lack of players and disciplinary issues (after being Div 2 Champions last season) and have now disbanded.

However this is not confirmed on the East Lancs League web site, and it shows them still due to face Barrowford Celtic in the league on Saturday. Longshaw's twitter has been quiet for a couple of weeks.

So we shall see if they play again or not.

Barrowford Celtic have now tweeted that they are not playing Longshaw on Sat as they folded:

"It is true, we’re due to play them on Saturday but the league have told us this morning that they have resigned"

The East Lancs web site fixtures and tables has now been updated:

This has also appeared on the web site

Longshaw FC
Mon 8 Oct, 2018

Longshaw FC have left the League officially this morning. Because the Lancashire Football Association are involved all their playing squad are now suspended until further notice, you will not be able to sign any of the players until the L.F.A. and our League have dealt with the matter.
