Nottingham Forest and Aitor Karanka have 'parted company'.

He asked to be released from contract according to ciub. An admission that he's not up to the job or has another club come in for him. If the latter then he is a very fortunate man indeed.

Martin O'Neill is the new manager at Forest

Assuming they'd go down whoever was in charge, I thought they might have kept him as their best bet to come straight back up. Like Burnley stuck with Dyche when they went down a few years ago.

This news surprised me as well, for the same reason you gave.

Yet his position was as safe as houses when they were tumbling down the league last season. Once that TV money starts to kick in clubs become totally reliant on it.

Although still at the early stages, Paul Scholes has put himself in the frame for the job at Oldham Athletic. Question is, if appointed would this create a conflict of interest, he is part owner of Salford City? With Salford in the running for promotion both teams could meet in League 2 next season.

I would have thought the FA would contact him before he took the Oldham job and remind of this conflict of interest and maybe ask him to relinquish his part in Salford. The Notts/Ilkeston connection would have nothing on this one and cup bans wouldn't suffice.

Not a great time to be a fan of a club with a manager on the brink with that clown back on the job market.

Oldham sack Frankie Bunn

Replaced by Paul Scholes

He's resigned as a Salford director but keeps his 10% shareholding. So no conflict of interest then

He was cleared by the EFL last week, so that he could be appointed at Oldham.
