There's a Sticky that clearly says this. Please stick to the rules, everyone!

It's a web forum, not a court of law. If a rule doesn't make sense, and this one doesn't to me at least, at least let's have a debate about it.

I assume this relates to CanalEnder's post about exemptions? If so, regardless of the above, details of the various levels of exemptions and which level of clubs come in to the Trophy at which stage, seems to be a perfectly valid point to have in the main thread.

There have been several 'discussion' posts recently and if you're going to use these posts as a reference for all draws and results, it confuses matters to have random discussions started in them. That's why new threads are asked for when discussing things about the competition.

We have done this for several seasons, Richard - keeping the comments on the threads to a minimum and basically allowing JT to add to the threads as he sees fit.

Most users can manage to open other threads for discussion. It works and provides a valuable reference tool as it is quite easy to find results, draws, etc., in one place

When I can, I take the discussion posts off the main threads, but sometimes this does not happen quick enough so it is better if these posts were made in their own thread to start with

Might be better if the various FA draws and results were on the NLM main site rather than (or as well as) on a discussion thread. That way they'd be as 'untouchable' as the various league results/fixtures/tables, which would be logical, and the discussion thread could be much less formal and open to discussion.

I guess the big question would be whether the software would allow it.

Would it be easier to have two discussion sections, one for stats (as an 'information thread') and the other for broader discussion? This would avoid having to scroll down through numerous information threads to get to the discussion, which can be very mildly irritating and may cause confusion.

.....perhaps even with the editing/posting rights of the "information thread" limited to John T and a select few as back up.
