Galway FA Ladies Senior League. KO 19:00. (F&N). Crowd 41 Corrib Celtic 2 v 4 Cregmore/Claregalway Celtic play at Annaghdown in the same complex as the men's team but on a different pitch. The ground is on the edge of the small village next to the school.
This was better than the men's games I have seen so far, in as much as the players had a great deal more attacking intent and some surprisingly good vision with accurate passing. The home side started top of the league with a 100% record, the visitors the second best team. Cregmore went 2 up in 7 minutes but conceded on 17 to complete the first half scoring. Unfortunately one of the Corrib central defenders fell awkwardly on the stroke of half time and was carried off. The home side did not have any subs, so played the second half with 10 players.
Cregmore restored their two goal advantage and Celtic missed a penalty before pulling a goal back. The visitors made the game safe with their 4th in the 80th minute. A really enjoyable evening in the sunshine again, if a little chilly by the end.
