Site Access Issues   or Reply Privately

I am aware that there may be some issues accessing the site at the moment, in fact I was alerted to this by my hosting company a day or so ago who told me it was caused by Amazon bots trawling the site multiple times every minute.
I had thought it had been fixed until I got Site Unavailable messages when trying to connect just now and checked the server which is running at 200% CPU and a load of 14.7 (anything over 2 is not so good).
It's been raised with the hosting company who are very good but just wanted to post this info before problems are reported. Hopefully they will be fixed before you even notice a problem.

Thanks

Hi Steve. Probably a daft question but I can't see how to create a new thread. I wanted to put some stuff up about the Vase but did not want to add to the clutter on John's sticky.

Thanks

I have been browsing for about 30mins when suddenly I was thrown out & message in red came "you have been banned". I tried logging in 3-4 times before succeeding. What is going on?

I just posted & after it was sent I got the message again I was banned. I clicked 3-4 entries & I was ok again. On one of earlier threads I was browsing some others seemed to be having same problem including Hoddy. I think someone is having a laugh but hoddy may know more!!!

Happened to me several times around noon today and just happened again. Seems very unusual to be a glitch if it's not affecting everyone so maybe somebody's gained access to something they shouldn't?

It's likely to be an update to the software of whatever browser you are using. In which case it will no doubt be fixed with an update to the update some time soon.
Personally I haven't been able to replicate this issue despite regularly looging into the forum all day.

Just happened to me about half an hour ago, all OK now.

Using Firefox 68.0.1 on Windows 10 if that helps.

I was put on the naughty step this morning for a bit using my default (Android) phone web browser. Probably about 20 minutes from first seeing the Banned screen to being allowed back in.

Opening a new window and accessing the forum through that rather than persevering with the 'banned' screen has (so far) allowed me back in within seconds.

Lo and behold, no sooner had I typed that than I got banned again, but opening a new window did NOT get me back in first time. Methinks someone is messing around here.

Nothing has changed here.
So this is due either to an upgrade to the browser software or the operating system which has created a problem with older software such as this forum. Normally this will be noticed by whoever has instigated this upgrade and will be fixed within a few days.
If not then we'll have to look at it again. I have logged on and off all day and not been able to replicate the problem. That doesn't mean it doesn't exist, I just haven't seen it
Cheers... Steve

Be good Mr Hod. You know the Mods are watching this carefully and will not take windups lightly however disguised or humorous or clever they are. Hopefully he can add to the forum knowledge without controversy and that is a two way street.

Not sure if this is useful but, with me, it's occurring while I'm already logged in and flicking between threads, not when I'm trying to log in.
