With the NWCFL potentially having Step 6 vacancies again following the mass promotions at the end of this season, they might well have a chance of squeezing in.

Earlier this year there was talk of the Isle of Man FA looking to integrate their league into the NLS at Step 7.

I don't know if anyone has visited any IoM grounds but there can't be many, if any, that conform to current FA ground grading for step 6.

They only need one, and the national stadium in Douglas is suitable for step six and several levels higher I’m sure.

There’s a picture of it with the story on the NWCL website.

Good for them.
I am sure with the changes coming up it will be easy to get in at Step 6.

They'd be a welcome addition I'm sure. Please drop the "FC" bit though - no need...

IOM clubs held their own when they used to enter the Vase so a team at step 6 should be competitive.

Man United perhaps?

Altrincham director Laurence Looney (yes, unfortunate name) is a Manxman who is based on the island, and was formerly at Lancaster City and Douglas and District FC before that. I am sure people like him will be able to advise the islanders about non-League football in the north west, so I think this can be a success.

Douglas HSOB won one tie in five Vsae entries from 1989-98, so perhaps "holding their own" is a little bit generous.

I can't remember any other IOM sides in the Vase, can anyone else recall any?

Yes Douglas HSOB is the one I was thinking of - beat decent NWC opposition, ran another close and took a crack St Doms side at the time to four games.

I'm sure they were either the first or last IOM side to enter the Vase but maybe you're right and they're both! I'm possibly getting mixed up with other island sides who've entered (likes of Vale Rec, First Tower etc)

St Johns United made enquiries about 7 / 8 years ago to join mainland football.

They have a very neat floodlit ground, still playing midweek games , fixtures are on Full Time. They like Friday nights if looking for a short weekend.

Now in the 2nd tier of IofM football.

Staged an International tournament before - http://nonleaguematters.co.uk/...hns%20united;#485053

Surely FC Isle of Man would have to pay for away teams travel to play on the Island like Guernsey and Jersey Bulls have to do

Isle of Man are similar in standard to Jersey & Guernsey so lower Step 4 to upper Step 6 level.

Jersey played at IoM Bowl in final of Inter-League Cup in 2012, it seats just under 3,000 but had very little cover

IoM would need to pay travelling costs for their visitors.
It works out at about £2K per match for Jersey.

I have not checked the flights, but I can only assume that the availability of flights from the island to Liverpool and/or Manchester airports is as least as good as that of London. If London has more flights to the island, it would make more sense for the new club to play in the Combined Counties League!

The club will either be flying into Liverpool or Manchester. It might determine whether they are in the NWCL1N or NWCL1S next season.

There is also the ferry. With regular travel to.from the island FC IoM will probably try and negotiate a deal with an airline or ferry operator, who should be delighted to be receiving a regular income during the Winter months.

How long from Isle of Man to Liverpool by ferry? Got to be a few hours?

Would be a great tactic to ship the away team in on the day of the game in choppy water.

2 hrs 45 and how many games would be at doubt in bad weather when the ferry can be cancelled ? EZY do it in 50 minutes to Liverpool. No brainer really.
