A number of results input to NLM last night were incorrect and despite correcting most before mid-night the SL Div 1 Central was still incorrect at 13.00 hrs today.

However, the SL and NLM tables having been checked are now correct.

As mentioned in post 223, from Tuesday difference in Moneyfields v Thatcham score, SL now shows correct 1-1 score but NLM still has 4-1 win for Thatcham, so Thatcham should only have 7 points in table and not 9 .
On Wednesday night games, SL show Larkhall winning 3-2 but only 2-2 on NLM

Larkhall was definitely 3-2....and Highworth won 4-2 at Slimbridge, not 5-2.

Reference postings 226 & 227. Thanks for bringing these inaccuracies to our attention.

The SL has corrected the results that are shown in the above postings and NLM has been updated.

Both SL & NLM league tables have been checked and agree.

Perhaps it would be better to delay putting Southern League results into the Non League Matters data for 24 hours to make sure they're right on the SL website first?

It's much more long-winded but at SL level most clubs provide regular twitter updates. Could be worth checking results against clubs twitter announcements. This may mean that those that update leagues that are known to have data quality issues need to be prepared to put in more time for this extra check, or additional NLM editors are sought to split the SL across numerous editors.
Appreciate finding an ideal resolution is difficult with a lack of people looking to volunteer.

Re: [BDA_85] Southern League website [In reply to] Can't Post or Reply Privately

As I update 3 of 4 divisions of the Southern League (often all 4) I do like to see the results input ASAP. Checking Twitter for each result is too slow when faced with a number of other leagues to update. Last night over 2.5 hours starting about 20.30 for early 18.15 KO's I updated over 20 leagues and their divisions. I have used the Bet Victor site for SL results when the SL has no results or fails to respond to the enquiry. I'll use Bet Victor again in the short term. On Tuesday evening I corrected alot of results (Berko 8-0 Bedford I corrected to 4-0) but clearly there were some which the SL site had not corrected. Even with the correct results the league table was incorrect as were the G & F columns. I'm sure the SL site will get it right eventually with several new features but I do not like the wide league table to get goals F & A. (Sorry I've rambled)

But I do agree we need more editors, any volunteers?

(More ramblings ! Wink)

...I think I spotted quite a few SL scores on the BetVictor site were adrift - particularly on Tue - ( not sure if they were fully correct on Sat eve either) yet the difference between results and goal scorer info rather stood out. Didn't check all but the latter did appear to be correct.

- I cross-checked with the footballwebpages site, where the scores had also appeared and their results matched the BetVictor scorer info e.g. so on BV certain final scores were wrong but the goalscorer tallies matched. e.g on Tue Thatcham were listed there as a 1-4 win @ Moneyfields but only had 1 goalscorer.

Sadly the integration process has sunk for the following night - with footballwebpages still not managing to put up any of the five SL1 scores from Wed night yet. Unsure

.... and no, I'm not volunteering. Angelic

Today's wonderous results on SL site (at 5.20pm) include Thatcham v Salisbury as 0-0 (on FA site 2-3) and Chesham United v Fleet Town as 8-2 (but was only 4-2)

They have now corrected the Thatcham score but not other errors.
The site now has Kings Langley win 1-1 on Penalties after the match finished 3-1.

Even 2 weeks after the game in previous round, the SL still show Basingstoke v Westfield being 0-0 (instead of 0-2)

Why not a polite message to the SL to get the Basingstoke result corrected? I have done so, SL result now correct.

Needham Market 3-3 Barwell.

Visitors won it 2-3.

Edit
Polite message sent and scoreline corrected but it really should not be like this for a league of this standing.

League table placings. In the Premier Division Central I believe that the placings of Kings Langley and Bromsgrove Sporting should be reversed in accordance with the NAT Conference rule as under:

12.2.2 In the event of the goal difference being equal the highest placed Club shall be the Club which has scored the most goals;

Kings Langley F11 A11
Bromsgrove F8 A8

Right or Wrong please.

Yes the results are all wrong again tonight.
The Southern League have outsourced their website to a Company called Omniweb Ltd. Clearly it's not a match made in heaven as getting the results and league tables right is paramount... not a few hours afterwards. I think... and I'm guessing... that they are trying to collate live scores as they come in and use whatever score they have on 90 minutes as the final score.

They need to ditch that idea and post final results when they have them, leaving the rest blank. This isn't Premier League

Sometimes when I go onto the website and look for the results. It comes up with a load of rubbish and you can’t even see the fixtures. An hour or so later it fixes itself.

I also visited Boro's Twitter account and was satisfied that it was 4-0 and NLM was updated by 10.30pm with the correct result as per my posting above. However, it was the other results which were questionable. LaughLaugh

I keep getting (several days now) a "Your Connection is not Private" warning if I try to visit the SL site, and have to click the 'back to safety' button to move on. No other site brings up this message.
Does anyone else have this problem?
