Moreton Rangers New Stand Can't Post or Reply Privately

Moreton Rangers Twitter reports that they have received planning permission from The Cotswolds District Council to install a new 50 seater stand at their London Road Ground. The Hellenic League Division 1 West club have ambitions to get back to the Hellenic League Premier Division where their predecessors Moreton Town were once a force winning championships. Following promotion from Division 2 West last season they have made a decent start to the season and are currently sit mid table and have also progressed to the quarter finals of the league’s Challenge Cup defeating two Premier Division sides on the way.

I recall that a lot of Glos clubs directed hostility at this club when they “skipped” the Glos County League by moving straight from the Glos Northern Senior League (“Step 8”) to the Hellenic League Div 2. That effectively meant they had a back route into Step 6 football, and skipped the gruelling task of having to win the County League. Many GNSL and County League teams were not happy.

Think that was Newent Town, who were rather more blatant in their attempts to take a shortcut to step 6 football. Not really heard any complaints from clubs about Moreton or Bourton.

The way I read this is that there are lots of potential Step 7 clubs in Gloucestershire and adjoining areas which are not being adequately provided for by having just one Step 7 league or division for the area.
Split the current Gloucestershire County League into something like North and South Divisions with each eligible to have clubs promoted to Step 6 in the same season.
This is what the Central Midlands League does so why not here too?

The Glos County League will continue as one division in 2020-21 but there may be 18, rather than 16, clubs.

The existing very high ground grading requirements of the league, which are higher than the mandatory FA requirements are to be relaxed meaning that far more clubs will be able to apply to join the league.

The vacancies for season 202-21 will be filled by the champion clubs from the Bristol Premier Combination, Bristol & Suburban League, Glos Northern Senior League and Hellenic 2 West, if they have applied and satisfied the new ground grading requirements, playing off at the end of the season.

I thought the same complaint was made about Moreton Rangers too? They resigned from the GNSL Div 1 ("Step 8") in 2016 and moved to Hellenic Div 2 - completely bypassing the Glos County League. In the minutes of the GNSL committee meeting at which their resignation was discussed, concern was raised that "By doing this it was thought that there was the possibility that Moreton Rangers could ‘jump’ Step 7, (Glos County League), and go straight to Step 6."

The trouble is that Glos already has leagues that splits their clubs on a north/south axis. They are called the Bristol Premier Combination and the Glos Northern Senior League. Unfortunately those leagues sit at Step 8, not Step 7.
